The other day, as I was stressing about cleaning my floors and keeping them clean, removing our shoes at the entryway and keeping the brand new white rug stain-free, I had a thought come to me—
Isn’t it interesting how we try so hard to keep our floors clean when there are people who live with dirt floors?
It reminded me of their simplified but edified life.
It also reminded me to let go some and not be so uptight.
It reminded me that it isn’t worth the stress to sweat the small stuff.
It reminded me to relax a little bit when my husband wears his shoes on the brand new carpet and be more grateful that we have a floor.
It reminded me to cringe a little less at the sight of our street shoes on the rug and to be grateful we have one.
It reminded me to be less appalled at what the mop picks up and be more grateful I have a floor to mop.
It reminded me to not stress so much about keeping the floors clean and to be more grateful that I don’t have a dirt floor.
