These costumes are quick to throw together and easy to create. They are clever, trendy and affordable. Best part is, you might just have some of these props already on hand, and if not, these costumes won’t cost you more than a couple of dollars!
1. DEVILED EGG
Dress yourself in red and cut out an egg using paper, craft felt, or foam sheets (less than a dollar at Walmart) and pair it with devil horns ($ store). There ya have it, a "deviled egg." Don't own anything red? You can also use a white t-shirt + color, paint or tape a large yellow circle to the center, and you've created an alternative!
Grab that old long sleeve green sweater hanging in your closet and glue white yarn or pipe cleaners to it to create the cactus needles. Is the sweater knitted? Even better! No glue required, just insert the pipe cleaners through the knitted holes and twist the ends together to attach them all over the sweater. Add a pink flower to your hair and you'll be looking "sharp" ;) in no time.
3. CHILL PILL
Cut some letters out of black paper or craft felt (less than a dollar at Walmart) and attach to a pink and white combo.
4. WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS
Paint or cut letters out of craft felt (less than a dollar at Walmart) and attach to your choice of t-shirt. (Another cute and easy shirt idea is to stick a "Hello, my name is..." sticker to the shirt. Fill in the name as, "Life.") Carry some lemons in a basket and feel free to hand them out and see how others respond when life gives them lemons!
5. HOLY GUACAMOLE
Cut an avocado out of green paper, paint a brown circle in the center, creating the pit. Make a halo out of white pipe cleaners (less than a dollar at Walmart) and attach to a headband. A brown circle on a green t-shirt would work too, if that's more convenient.
6. BLESSING IN DISGUISE
Disguise yourself with this disguise mask ($ store) and wear something that says "blessing." See how long it takes for someone to guess your clever get-up.
7. DUST BUNNY
Who knew a "dust bunny" could be so dang cute? Bunny components ($ store) and a dusting tool makes for your not so typical Halloween costume with ears. This feather duster can be made with a feather boa ($ store) and a paper towel roll (cardboard center, recontoured to a smaller diameter and painted).
8. SCRAMBLED EGGS
A necklace made of paper eggs (labeled E, G, G, S) jumbled of course, + a yellow shirt = EGGstremely witty!
9. SMARTIE PANTS
Attach smarties candies to a pair of old pants and you'll be the smartest play-on-words out there. A bowtie and nerd glasses will be the perfect details to top off this look!
Grab some green paper or poster board and cut out and glue it to a toilet paper roll. Attach it to a headband and wear your favorite yellow outfit for this tropical feel.
11. DEVIL IN DISGUISE
It's sinful how cute this costume is. With some devilish details and a disguise mask (both found at the $ store) this is the perfect Halloween costume for feeling silly and sassy.
12. FORK IN THE ROAD
Own a little black dress or a little black top? Add some strips of yellow tape or felt down the center and attach a plastic fork between the dashed lines. Cutest costume on the block!
13. YANKEE DOODLE
Feeling patriotic? Dust off that old Etch-A-Sketch and turn it into a necklace by taping it to some string. Pair it with some Yankees apparel and you're sure to have a costume that is one of a kind.
